Natural burial grounds are special places for remembrance that family and friends are free to roam, and are great assets to the environment
If you want your passing, or that of a loved one, to bring some benefit to the environment, then natural burial is a great choice. Natural burial grounds have a much less manicured appearance than traditional cemeteries as they are managed to encourage wildlife.
Peace Funerals introduced natural burial to South Yorkshire and North Derbyshire when they created the South Yorkshire Woodland Burial Ground (on the Rotherham/Sheffield border) and the Golden Valley Woodland Burial Ground (near Alfreton) nearly 25 years ago. We have more experience of providing natural burial services than any other funeral director in the region.
There are now a number of other places in the region where you can have a natural burial and these include sections within Hope Cemetery and Wisewood Cemetery, and a dedicated natural burial ground in Stannington. Allow us to help you with your funeral arrangements whichever you choose.

We can arrange a natural burial for you anywhere in Sheffield and the surrounding area
Natural Burial Grounds in the area
The nearest natural burial grounds are at Ulley (on the border of Sheffield and Rotherham, run by Peace Funerals); Wisewood (within Wisewood Cemetery, run by Sheffield City Council); Hope (within Hope Cemetery, run by High Peak Borough Council); and Bradfield View Woodland Burial Ground, Stannington (privately operated). A new burial ground is scheduled to be opened within the next 18 months at Apperknowle, a village to south of Sheffield, not far from Dronfield. This will be run by Peace Funerals.
